Back To Google Docs For My Show Notes:
I just went back to using Google Docs for show notes prep. This time, I’m using a single document for all my shows shared with all my co-hosts and my assistant. With all the shows that I produce each Thursday, the only bottleneck in getting content posted to the site has been typing up show notes for my assistant to post on the sites.
Rumor has it that the ability to edit Google Docs from my iPad should be announced any day now. (Link To Story)
Every listener of Podcast Answer Man would absolutely find episode 27 of the Virtual Assistant Podcast interesting.
I’m heading to BarCamp Nashville this weekend to speak about the Power of Podcasting For Business. While talking about this event, I mentioned http://ConnieAndSheilaTalk.com. I also mentioned that I am now doing full production of Dan Miller’s 48 Days Radio Show. You can catch Dan’s podcast at http://www.48days.com/listen. You can find out more about BarCamp Nashvile at http://BarCampNashville.org.
Feedback on my thoughts about recording into a computer:
Ian from EssentialTennis.com called in with his reaction to my negative thoughts on recording into a computer. He shared that he’s recorded a lot of episodes and has never had any issues. My thoughts on this is that there are about 40% of people who seem to never run into the issues with recording into their computers.
In fact, it’s extremely ironic that Ian would call in this feedback when I just experienced what happened while recording a fifteen minute video tutorial for my mailing list. I play an audio sample of what happened to demonstrate how this error caused me to not send out that video to my mailing list.
I’ve been podcasting for five years now and I’ve worked with hundreds of other podcasters. Those who have taken my recommendation of buying a digital audio recorder for their recordings have never had issues with their audio. At least 60% of those who do not purchase a digital audio recorder for their podcast recordings become repeat customers as we try to figure out the large number of potential problems that exist from recording into their computers.
I sent Ian the audio file that I played in this episode and gave him a copy of what I planned to put in the show notes about his feedback. He wrote back and said he understood where I was coming from. He said that he hoped that I would not be offended if he continued to do what has worked for him, recording into the computer. I responded and said of course not. I then told him that it took YEARS before Adam Christianson from MacCast started to have issues and I sent him a screen shot of this tweet from Adam back on June 25th, 2010.
Melista Called In About Her Condenser Microphone:
I know from working with so many clients that the idea of purchasing an audio mixer and learning how to use it can be very intimidating. It is so much cheaper and easier to go with an all in one, plug and play, usb condenser microphone. The only problem is that when you do so, you almost always end up with the audio quality found in Melitsa’s call.
If you already have a condenser microphone and don’t have the budget to get a decent dynamic microphone and mixer setup, then I would recommend turning down the gain on your microphone, getting a little closer, and try recording in a walk in closet filled with clothes.
Passive Income Strategy For Podcasters Webinar:
Only five spots remain for the Passive Income Strategy For Podcasters webinar. The event is Saturday, October 23rd from 11am to 1pm Eastern Time. You do not want to miss the learning experience. I know for a fact that my profits are going to increase drastically as the results of what I will learn during this session. How do I know that? I know because I’ve seen the outline for the session and the two or three things that I have done from the list have already doubled the income to my business.
