SpeakPipe Coming out of Beta – Announces Pricing Plans!
I recently received an email from Vladimir Pankratiev, the founder of SpeakPipe stating that the SpeakPipe service is expected to come out of beta status effective March 1st, 2013. The great news is that many of those who have come to rely on this service for gaining voice feedback for their shows will continue to be able to do so using the Free Plan. Originally, the free plan was going to limit each voice message to 30 seconds. To Vladimir's credit, he listened to the feedback of his community and has raised the duration of voice messages on the free plan to 90 seconds.

I'm the type of person who values a company more when they have a clear economic model in place for generating income. It gives me piece of mind knowing that the developer can afford to further invest into the development of the software that I depend on. Blubrry PowerPress Removes 1 Pixel Out Player Due To Security Concern
From their website, “Due to concerns of possible security exploits, the 1 Pixel Out Audio Player has been removed from PowerPress as of version 4.0.6. PowerPress users are strongly encouraged to update their copy of PowerPress immediately.

The possible issue is with the 1 Pixel Out flash based audio player. The official 1 Pixel Out Audio Player was removed temporary from the repository until the security issues have been addressed. Once a new version is available, we will review re-including the player in PowerPress.

If your site is currently configured to use the 1 Pixel Out audio player the Flow Player Classic player will be substituted in its place once your copy of PowerPress is updated.”

I have great news regarding this. I was looking at a Google Plus Post from my friend, Ray Ortega. Angelo Mandato, the developer who wrote the PowerPress Plugin, had commented on that discussion thread and said that the 1 Pixel Out player WILL COME BACK to PowerPress once it's fixed. (see screen grab below)

If you would like to make a contribution to support the ongoing development of the 1 Pixel Out Audio Player, please do so at I made a $50 contribution today! I am a huge fan of the 1 Pixel Out Player.

Public Service Announcement About SD Cards on The Mac
In this episode, I play some audio feedback from Tony Rose who wanted to make sure that everyone is aware that when you drag and drop audio files from your SD card to the desktop on the Mac and then delete them from the card, you are not really deleting them at all.

I have covered this in the past. However, it is something that bares repeating from time to time. There are three ways that you can truly remove these files to free up the memory on your SD card.

1) You can hold down the Command Key while you click to drag and drop. This will actually “move” the file from the card to the computer rather than simply copy it.

2) Just after you delete the files off the card, while the card is still plugged into the computer, you can simply “empty your trash bin” and this will free up that memory on the card.

3) You can simply format the card in the recorder.

John Lane's Two Questions
In this episode, I point John to episode 254 of Podcast Answer Man in a response to his question about how to grow the audience for your podcast.

John also asked where he can get artwork made for his podcast. My favorite person to turn to for podcast artwork is Jenny Hamson. She does artwork for members of my community at the cost of $175. You can reach out to her through the information found at

If you prefer to have to have a vast number of graphics artists who will compete to get your work, 99 Designs has an amazing program that starts at $299.

Knowing that John is a younger guy, I assumed that his budget may be a little lower than the pricing mentioned above. I shared that some folks have randomly had luck getting very inexpensive artwork done at

Taking My Presentations To The Next Level
In the episode, I attempt to explain how I am going to take my speaking gigs to a whole new level by creating separate speaker notes for my talks, rather than relying on my presentation slides to be my outline for the points I want to cover.

I mentioned why I will not be using the PodiumCue software recommend by my friend, Michael Hyatt. When in playback mode, the look and feel of the cue cards is beautiful. However, I found it simply too easy to accidentally get your notes out of order. I am, however, very happy that Michael promoted that software because it caused me to search for others like it that might be able to help me keep track of my presenter notes and keep an eye on the time while I am speaking.

I found the Speech Prompt software. This application would certainly due to the job for me. It is super basic and it is very easy to figure out how it works and it does what it is supposed to do and just works. However, I am not going to be using this software because it's just too ugly. I know that I would be the only person who sees my notes on those generic looking cards sitting on a fake wood grain table. However, I'd rather not have to look at it myself.

I am excited to announce that I am going to be using the Speeches software. This is a Universal application that can work both on the iPhone and iPad. It will allow me to create my notes on my desktop using a simple .txt file and important those notes into the app just by emailing the .txt file to myself. I can tell it the duration of time that I am allotted for my talk and it will help me keep an eye on how much time I have left as I am speaking. I really enjoy the way that I can easily swipe forward or backward between my cue cards. It simply looks very nice and I can customize both the font and the size of the font.

Just two quick notes about the Podcasting Patent Story
I don't have a lot of new information to provide on the Podcasting Patent Lawsuit. However, I did mention that Leo Laporte was a guest on a recent episode of Adam Corolla's podcast where they both talked, openly, about the lawsuit. You can download the audio clip from that conversation by clicking here.

The other quick note was that I had forgot to mention the July 2009 claim that VoloMedia, Inc made saying that they had been awarded the patent on podcasting with their US Patent 7,568,213 “Method for providing episodic media content.” It will be interesting to see where this story goes. I'll keep you posted as soon as I have more information that I am able to share.
