Recently, my friend, Kris Pavone, joined the Next Level Mastermind and introduced himself to the group in our discussion forum. In the introduction, he wrote that… “I am a podcaster and success coach. I help men between the ages of 30-50 who feel frustrated, stuck, and are ready to change, gain clarity and take action so they can live the life of their dreams!”
One of the ladies in our group responded by saying… “I've been listening to your podcast and even though I don't fit your demographic, I always enjoy them!”
Shortly after that post, another one of the ladies in the group wrote… ” I agree with Tammy. I jumped on and listened to your podcast and felt right at home. I have to admit that I'm still struggling a bit with the idea of narrowing my target audience. I trust those who tell me I should but it seems so…limiting. Yet, listening to your podcast I didn't have that experience. (I'm obviously still pondering… Thanks for the great example!”
I felt compelled to add my thoughts on narrowing your target audience and I related it to a story of when I was being taught archery at a summer camp that I attended as a child.
This was the first time I'd ever thought to use archery as and example for teaching about the value of having a narrow target (focus) for your audience and how this does not “LIMIT” you from reaching others who do not fit that exact description. I decided that it would be a perfect topic for a podcast episode and that is how this week's episode came to be.
Let's Work Together:
I mentor coaches, consultants and thought leaders through the transition from an unfulfilling day job to a profitable online business so that you can live the life of your dreams and do the work you feel most called to do in the world.
Over the past decade, I have had the privilege and honor of working with folks like Michael Hyatt, Pat Flynn, Amy Porterfield, Ray Edwards, John Lee Dumas, Dan Miller and thousands of others on the successful launch of their audio podcasts. The most exciting part of my work, with many of these folks, has been helping them create and build a profitable online business around their podcasting efforts.
If you are ready to take your message, your business and your life to the next level, check out my Work With Me page to see how we can work together.
While I teach that it is possible to start your podcast with under $100 in recording equipment, a large number of my clients and students have told me that they simply want the exact gear that I use to record my own podcasts. That's why I created the Podcast Answer Man Equipment Package back in 2008. If you would like to see the gear that I'm using in my own studio, click here to check it out.
